Bengaluru, renowned as India’s IT hub, is equally notorious for its traffic congestion. The city is currently hosting Aeroindia 2025, an air show featuring fighter aircraft from around the world, including India’s Tejas and Sukhoi, alongside those from the United States and Russia.

In an unexpected turn of events, 15 German pilots en route to the venue found themselves gridlocked in Bengaluru’s infamous traffic, causing them to miss the air show’s opening ceremony.

Scheduled from February 13 to 17, Aeroindia 2025 dedicates its first three days to business visitors, with general public access opening thereafter.

According to a Deccan Herald report, the German pilot contingent, arriving on Monday for Aeroindia, endured hours stranded in traffic. The city’s notorious congestion presented an unwelcome experience. Adding to the delays, attendees with business class tickets also faced extended waiting periods.

The German pilots, arriving on an A330 passenger plane, were accommodated at a hotel approximately 17 km from the venue. Departing on time to attend Aeroindia 2025, the pilots were caught off guard, lacking prior knowledge of Bengaluru’s severe traffic situation. Their personal taxi became ensnared in the gridlock, turning a short trip into an hours-long ordeal.

By the time the pilots reached Yelahanka Air Force Station, the opening ceremony had already concluded, as reported by the Deccan Herald.

One pilot recounted being forewarned about Bengaluru’s traffic woes by a local guide a few days prior, completely unaware that he, too, would fall victim to the city’s notorious congestion. Despite the delay, the pilots stayed at the venue to attend the remaining programme.
