The Fortnite Super season is still going strong, but you might want to check the Fortnite system requirements to make sure your PC is up for the task of running the popular battle royale game before diving in. With the additions of the new Superman and Robin skins to the extensive catalog, there’s no end of awesome superheroes for you to play as. Let’s not forget these are also the specs you’ll need to meet in order to enjoy Fortnite Festival or the LEGO game modes, too.
Fortnite is one of the best free games on PC, but a lot has changed since it first launched as a crafting survival game back in 2017. Given its age, you won’t need the best GPU from our buying guide to run Fortnite, but we can help you find the best Fortnite settings if you’re struggling to get decent performance across any of the game modes.
Here are the Fortnite system requirements:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
| OS | Windows 7 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i3 3225 | Intel Core i5 7300U |
| RAM | 8GB | 16GB |
| GPU | Intel HD Graphics 4000 | Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 AMD Radeon R9 280 |
| Storage | 130GB+ | 130GB+ |
You don’t need a dedicated pixel pusher to hit the Fortnite minimum requirements, as the integrated GPU on the Intel Core i3 3225 is powerful enough to secure you a place on the battle bus. Naturally, by upgrading to the best gaming CPU you can access modern onboard graphics to help boost fps versus the now decade-old processor.
Moving up to the Fortnite recommended specs doesn’t require the best graphics card, as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 280 will suffice. That said, the more powerful your pixel pusher, the higher your frame rate will go.
Here are the Fortnite ultra requirements:
| Fortnite Epic quality specifications | |
| OS | Windows 10 or 11 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i7 8700 AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
| GPU | Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT |
| RAM | 16GB |
| Storage | 130GB+ SSD |
If you’re after only the best performance possible, you’ll be aiming for the Fortnite ultra requirements, which is the set of specs that will guarantee you visual fidelity and frames, but unfortunately, no victory royales. That’s still a skill issue.
There’s a clear jump in power here, but by modern standards, many mid-range gaming PCs will still be able to clear these specs with ease, especially when compared to the likes of the Cyberpunk 2077 system requirements.
Epic doesn’t need to formally list what the official Fortnite size is, but based on our current download, it requires approximately 140GB, and this includes the Festival and LEGO game modes. This is a huge increase from the 90GB file that used to sit on hard drives. The battle royale will still work on a mechanical hard drive, but by installing it on one of the best gaming SSD picks from our buying guide, you will help lower the sometimes overly long load times.
