Odysse Electric Vehicles has teamed up with Indofast Energy — a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and SUN Mobility — to introduce a battery-swapping version of its high-speed electric scooter, the SNAP.
This partnership aims to solve two major concerns of electric vehicle users: charging time and range anxiety.
Where All It Is Being Launched?
The SNAP, now battery-swapping enabled, is being launched in four major Indian cities — New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai — with plans to expand further. This update allows riders to simply swap out a used battery for a fully charged one in under two minutes at designated stations.
Features
The Odysse SNAP is built for daily urban riders. It features:
- A 2000-watt motor
- Top speed of 55 km/h
- Range of up to 100 km per battery swap
- Cruise control and a real-time CAN-enabled display
- Waterproof IP67-rated motor and a strong chassis tailored for Indian roads
What Leaders Have To Say?
Nemin Vora, CEO of Odysse, said, “By combining our rider-focused design with SUN Mobility’s battery-swapping platform, we’re breaking down critical barriers to EV adoption in India—making electric mobility more affordable, practical, and future-ready.”
Rajat Malhan from Indofast Energy added, “After our successful international collaboration on the Vader SM, extending our partnership with Odysse Electric to the domestic market was a natural progression. Enabling the SNAP with our battery-swapping technology ensures that more Indian riders experience the convenience, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness that are essential for large-scale EV adoption.”
Why Battery Swapping Works
This model doesn’t just change how the scooter runs — it changes how people interact with electric mobility. Key benefits for riders include:
- No waiting around: Swap batteries instead of waiting to charge
- Lower costs: Only pay for energy, not the battery itself
- Less maintenance: Shared batteries mean better upkeep and less hassle
- Eco-friendly travel: More efficient battery use with less environmental impact
- Mobile convenience: Use an app to locate nearby battery swap stations
Affordable Plans for Everyday Use
With the Battery-as-a-Service model from SUN Mobility, the SNAP is priced at Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom), with subscription plans starting at Rs 999/month for 25 kWh or Rs 2,499/month for 75 kWh.
