India have been forced to add a Chennai Super Kings star as an injury cover to Nitish Kumar Reddy for the ongoing T20I series against England. As reported in ESPNCricinfo, Nitish is out with a side strain and has been advised a four-week rest.
In his place, India have added CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube as an injury cover. However, he will be available to play from the third T20I onwards on January 28.
Dube last played for India in August 2024, during an ODI series in Sri Lanka. He missed the T20Is against Bangladesh and South Africa and was also not named in India’s squad for the England T20I series. He made his return to cricket in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was also part of the sixth round of the Ranji trophy, where his team Mumbai was stunned by Jammu and Kashmir.
